Residential Childcare Practitioner
Location: Derby
Salary: £35,809.49 (senior level, rising after 6-month probation)
Contract: Permanent | Full Time - 56.5 hours/week (3-week rolling rota)
Recruiting on behalf of our valued client - a leading therapeutic children's care provider in Derby - we are seeking empathetic, resilient, and committed Residential Childcare Practitioners to join a truly rewarding service that transforms young lives.
What You'll Be Doing:
* Providing high-quality therapeutic care for looked-after children
* Supporting children through daily routines, including education, family contact, and activities
* Implementing individual risk and care plans
* Encouraging young people to engage in positive relationships, hobbies, and learning
* Performing general household duties and maintaining a safe, structured home
* Contributing to reports and record keeping
* Working alone and as part of a professional, multidisciplinary team
What We're Looking For:
* Experience in a residential childcare or relevant care setting (e.g. adult LD, domestic abuse, substance misuse)
* Hold or working towards a Level 3 or 4 Diploma in Children's Residential/Young People & Families (Residential Pathway)
* Full UK Driving Licence (essential - transporting children is a core requirement)
* Resilience, flexibility, emotional intelligence and a genuine commitment to safeguarding and child development
* Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check
Working Hours & Pay:
Shift pattern: 3-week rolling rota (10 shifts/month), including sleep-ins
Typical shift: 08:00-23:00 plus sleep and morning handover (08:00-08:30)
Total hours: 56.5/week (244.5/month)
Salary: £35,809.49 (rising post-probation)
