Here at GPS Recruitment, we are currently looking to chat with individuals looking to progress their careers as a Mechanical Design Engineer.
Our client supplies 65 countries from 5 global sites with heavy engineering products and offers end-to-end site services. To be considered for the position, you will have a good understanding in the use of 3D CAD software as a minimum, with strong mechanical/manufacturing engineering understanding.
Main duties:
* Use of Inventor / AutoCAD to produce accurate engineering drawings for manufacture / production.
* Working alongside internal / external teams providing engineering design support for sales, manufacture and installation.
* Designing & detailing fabrications for manufacture, assembly and installation.
* Possible opportunities visiting various sites to collect data for drawing production.
* Use of 3D scanner to aid in draughting more complicated products.
Experience/qualities:
* Experience of using 3D CAD software. Autodesk Inventor being advantageous, although not essential.
* General knowledge of mechanical handling/ engineering principles.
* Metallurgical understanding covering materials and heat treatments.
* Ability to reverse engineer customer samples and/ or data collected from customer sites.
* Experience of using calibrated measuring instruments such as vernier callipers, micrometers etc.
* A background or experience in the materials handling industry is preferable but not essential.
* Knowledge and experience in using 3D scanner is preferable but not essential.
