Position: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Pupil Referral Unit (PRU), Woolwich
Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM

We are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children with moderate to severe Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This role is based in a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Woolwich, and we are looking for candidates who have a strong background in managing challenging behavior and working with complex needs. Experience as a behavioral mentor, youth mentor, social worker, or SEN teaching assistant—whether personal or professional—may be transferable to this position.

Daily Duties:
- Provide one-on-one and group support to students with SEMH needs.
- Assist in the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Manage and de-escalate challenging behavior in a supportive manner.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes emotional well-being.
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff to monitor student progress and adapt strategies as needed.
- Engage in regular communication with parents and caregivers to support student development.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in SEN and SEMH.
- Contribute to the overall safety and well-being of students within the PRU setting.
