About the Role
Our client, a leading construction and infrastructure company, is seeking a passionate and proactive Health, Safety & Wellbeing (HSW) Trainee or Graduate to join their growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual looking to kick-start their career in health and safety within a dynamic site-based environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with experienced HSW professionals and gain hands-on experience in supporting the development and implementation of safety initiatives across live construction projects. This role offers exposure to a wide range of responsibilities while fostering professional growth and long-term career development.
Key Responsibilities
*
Support the development and maintenance of the company's Safety, Health & Wellbeing (HSW) policies and procedures.
*
Assist in providing basic HSW advice to staff and subcontractors under supervision.
*
Learn to conduct site safety audits and inspections, contributing to reporting and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
*
Shadow senior HSW advisors in liaising with Principal Contractors and site teams.
*
Help monitor day-to-day site safety practices and identify potential areas for improvement.
*
Assist in incident investigations and support the development of corrective and preventive actions.
*
Contribute to the preparation and delivery of toolbox talks, safety briefings, and training sessions.
*
Attend CPD events, workshops, and briefings to build a strong understanding of safety legislation and best practice.
*
Gain experience with document management systems, project folders, templates, and IT tools.
*
Learn about internal quality standards and document control processes.
Key Requirements
*
Studying towards or recently completed a relevant qualification (e.g. NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent).
*
Basic IT proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
*
Any exposure to construction or site environments (through education, work experience, or placements) is advantageous.
*
Strong interest in pursuing a career in health, safety, and wellbeing.
*
Eagerness to learn and develop in a fast-paced, practical environment.
*
Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with site teams and contractors.
*
A proactive, can-do attitude and willingness to take initiative under guidance.
*
Basic understanding or genuine interest in health and safety regulations and industry standards.
*
Flexibility to travel to project sites as required.
