1:1 Teaching Assistant (Supporting Pupil with Autism)

Location: Garstang
Hours: Monday: 8:45am - 3:15pm, Tuesday to Friday: 8:45am - 12:30pM
Start Date: Tuesday 6th May 2025
Contract Type: Long term
Required Qualification: Minimum Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification

We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with autism in an inclusive and nurturing mainstream primary school environment, close to Garstang.

This rewarding role involves building a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil and offering consistent, tailored support throughout their school day. The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping the child access learning, develop communication skills, and feel secure and valued in the classroom setting.

Key responsibilities include:

Providing 1:1 support during classroom activities
Assisting with personal care, including nappy changing
Supporting the pupil's individual learning and emotional needs
Collaborating with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals
Promoting independence and confidence in the pupil

We are looking for someone who:

Holds at least a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification
Has experience or a genuine interest in working with children with autism
Understands the importance of empathy, patience, and consistency
Can demonstrate excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Is reliable, flexible, and able to work effectively as part of a team
