Tenancy Management & Resettlement Officer ***

We are currently working in partnership with a Local Authority in the Catford area who are seeking a Tenancy Management & Resettlement Officer to join their Temporary Accommodation Team.

Contract - 12 months with a view to extended into a permanent position.

Full Time Hours - 35 Hours per week.

Location - SE6. (Hybrid working model - Officer is required to work in the office an minimum of 2 days a week)

Rate of Pay - £21+ per hour - Negotiable depending on experience.

Main Duties:

  • We are looking to recruit a dynamic officer to join to the Temporary Accommodation Reduction Project, which sits within the Housing Partnership and Service Improvement Team.
  • As a Tenancy Management and Resettlement Officer you will report directly to the Temporary Accommodation Reduction Project Manager and will assist in the delivery of change projects and new ways of working.
  • You will be an officer with experience of assessing applicants to end or discharge the main housing duty, with an extensive knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act, Part VII Housing Act and relevant legislation, guidance and case law relating to homelessness and temporary accommodation.
  • You will be completing affordability and suitability assessments for applicants.
  • The main focus of your role is to support residents in temporary accommodation to resettle into alternative accommodation, and to complete discharges of duty in specific cases.
  • You will be able to make comprehensive assessments and legal decisions which can withstand legal scrutiny and uphold at the review stage or court.
  • You will conduct various ad hoc duties to assist with the delivery of the Temporary Accommodation Reduction Project this may include but are not limited to supporting the Project Manager by undertaking specific project related activities as well as collating and monitoring data, conducting reports or detailed documents as required. .

Knowledge / Experience:

  • Local Authority / Public Sector.
  • Experience in completing s.188 and s.193 discharge of duties.
  • Temporary Accommodation Reduction Experience.
