Our Leicester based client are a global design agency of creative retail solutions for many of the leading iconic beauty and cosmetic brands.

They are looking for a junior - mid weight development designer to join their team in a full time and permanent role. You will have a minimum of 1-2 years experience within a manufacturing or design agency setting working on Retail solutions ideally with cosmetic/beauty brands.

The role

As part of the development design team you will be responsible for understanding customer needs and translating them into innovative retail display solutions, using a combination of 2D and 3D CAD software (SolidWorks and AutoCAD). You will take client supplied design intent or assortment and develop into a build intent or planogram solution. Development Designers excel at producing value-add ideas, defining product specifications (material, finish, process, fit, functionality, aesthetic), and developing products that can be effectively manufactured.

Responsibilities

* Working directly with the client and retailers to better understand the brand and consumer ambition

* Consulting with other team members to establish and evaluate project requests and deliverables

* Presenting design development proposals (Planogram | Presentations | Build Intent) to approved solutions

* Consider design for sustainability, design for value-add, and design for manufacturing

* Creating development solutions that are innovative, sustainable, cost-effective, and manufacturable

* Creating planogram or value-engineered presentations using a variety of techniques that include technical illustrations and 3d SolidWorks Modeling

Ideal Skills

* Hold a university degree in Product Design or similar

* Sound knowledge of Microsoft office, solidworks, autocad

* Knowledge/experience of materials and manufacturing processes

* Capable of preparing drawings, illustrations, renderings, presentations, or rough sketches

* Good Judgment and problem-solving skills using logic and reasoning to identify alternate solutions

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills

* Good Time Management Skills

* Client facing skills (mid-weight only)
