Express Recruitment are delighted to be working with a Restoration Specialist based in Nottingham who are looking to hire a Trainee Field Mechanical Technician on a full time, permanent basis to join and assist their team of Specialist Mechanical Engineers with the restoration of some modern and as well as historic clocks that are up to 300 years old. They are looking to provide a long-term career with opportunities for progression, making this role ideal for a time-served Mechanical Professional looking to hone their skills in a specific field.

Their successful candidate will travel across the country with a team of Engineers to shadow and assist them in servicing, repairing and restoring clocks. They will shadow for an initial 6 months before working on the clocks themselves which will include gilding, painting, replacing parts, and fixing mechanical faults.

Their ideal candidate will be a time-served Mechanical Professional (or similar background) with a willingness to learn new mechanical skills and techniques. A proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite is highly desirable as the role with involve entering data onto bespoke company system.

In return, they are offering a generous starting salary of up to c£28,000 per annum D.O.E with a pay review to follow the initial 6-month shadowing period. They also offer a generous benefits package including a pension scheme, a bonus scheme, tools, work wear, and a company van.

Roles and Responsibilities

* Shadow, travel with, and assist team of Clockmakers

* Work on a range of clocks that are up to 300 years old

* Undertake formal training to learn Clockmaking including repairing, painting, and gilding

* Travelling away for 2 weeks every 3 months (around 8 weeks per annum)

* Process basic admin using bespoke information system

Skills and Experience

* Time-served in Mechanical positions or similar

* A willingness to learn and understand new concepts

* Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including Word and Excel is highly desirable

* Comfortable with processing a DBS check on offer of role

* Strong problem-solving and time management skills

* Comfortable staying away occasionally for work

* Full clean UK driving licence
