Fully Remote Role / Work from home

We are working with one of the UK's leading infrastructure contractors, they work across highways both in capital projects and highways maintenance.

On the back of several significant key contract wins, they are now looking to expand their work-winning team with the key hire of a Senior Estimator within their projects division, with a focus on roads and associated infrastructure with project values estimated from £10.M - £30.M.

Working closely with the Chief Estimator and the bid team you will assist the business to secure profitable work by producing robust tender estimates. You will lead the development of client tender information into a comprehensive price for tender submission.

The client has geographically positioned offices throughout the UK. However, most of the preconstruction team works remotely from home, with occasional travel to the office for key team and stakeholder meetings.

As the Senior Estimator your duties & responsibilities will be:

* Determine pricing requirements from client documentation.

* Understand contractual implications and operation.

* Take responsibility, under minimum supervision, for bid preparation, completion, and submission.

* Take off quantities and prepare formal BOQ.

* Prepare accurate sustainable estimates/tenders and target costs.

* Assist clients through the preparation of budgets from the earliest project design stages.

* Assist and challenge operational solutions and programmes.

* Build up formal cost estimates through a mixture of first principles people, equipment, and materials, and subcontract costs under client requirements.

* Prepare and manage supply chain enquiries, and compare and resolve quotations.

* Assess and cost project risks and opportunities.

* Understand current market prices and conditions and benchmark our solutions to minimise risk and increase success.

* Engage with client to understand their need, resolve queries, provide confidence in our approach, and confirm understanding of our submissions.

* Prepare summary papers for governance review.

* Adherence to clients Infrastructure policies and procedures.

* Provide formal project handover to commercial and operational teams.

Skills & Knowledge Requirements

* Demonstrable Civil Engineering experience

* Previous relevant estimating experience

* Demonstrable take-off and BOQ production experience

* Degree/HNC qualified in Civil Engineering, Construction, Quantity Surveying or similar

* Relevant CSCS Card

* Good understanding of the NEC suite of contracts

* Experience of using estimating software (ideally Causeway) and strong Excel / general IT skills.
