Daniel Owen is seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to join a leading civil engineering company with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality projects across the UK. They specialise in groundworks, infrastructure, highways, utilities, and major civil engineering projects. With a focus on innovation, sustainability, and excellence, we provide industry-leading solutions to clients across various sectors, including commercial, residential, industrial, and public infrastructure.

Location: Birmingham

Position: Senior Estimator

Salary: £70,000 - £90,000 per annum + Package or day rate

Contract Type: Permanent or freelance available

Availability: This role is immediately available but open to 3 month notice periods

The Role:

As a Senior Estimator, you will play a crucial role in the pre-construction team, leading the estimating function and ensuring competitive, accurate, and profitable tender submissions. You will work closely with project managers, clients, and suppliers to ensure cost-effective solutions for infrastructure and civil engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the preparation and submission of detailed and competitive tenders, ensuring accuracy and profitability.
Analyse project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to prepare precise cost estimates.
Conduct site visits and liaise with engineers to ensure the feasibility and scope of the project.
Engage with suppliers, subcontractors, and industry professionals to obtain accurate and competitive pricing.
Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including clients and consultants.
Work collaboratively with the pre-construction, commercial, and operations teams to develop bid strategies.
Present estimates and tender proposals to senior management and clients.
Stay up to date with industry trends, market conditions, costs, and regulations to improve tender competitiveness.
Assist in the continuous improvement of estimating processes and best practices within the business.

Requirements:

Experience as an Estimator within the civil engineering or construction industry.
Strong knowledge of groundworks, infrastructure, drainage, highways, and civil engineering projects.
Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
