The Opportunity
Due to increased expansion, our client, a leader in the nuclear industry, are looking for a project engineer to join the team and help deliver some of their projects in Bridgwater on a permanent basis.

Your duties and responsibilities will be
Working with the Project Manager to define the work scope to be delivered within the contract or package of work and the interfaces to the other elements of the programme.
Delivery of assigned small projects, jobs and tasks ensuring that the work is conducted in a safe, timely and effective manner in line with the relevant procedures.
Prepare and maintain project documentation including Project Definition Document, Project Brief, Quality Plans, and other documents as required.
Developing and executing effective execution strategies and plans in line with the overall programme execution plan (PEP), setting out how the programme of work will be manages, organised and executed. The PEP sets out the 'why', 'what', 'how', 'when' and 'who' for the delivery of the programme.
Maintaining effective communications with all stakeholders and executing the project or PEP strategies within their contract or package of work.
Under the guidance and direction of the Project Manager drive the delivery of the contract or package activities to ensure they are delivered safely on time, to budget, meeting business & technical requirements.
Monitor and manage the progress of the programme - track progress against milestones, deadlines, budget and provide key stakeholders with reports on these matters.
Anticipate, manage and resolve issues within the contract or package.
Identify risks and facilitate the resolution of all issues raised, develop and update the programme budget, and escalate any issues to the Project Manager.
Facilitate and chair project meetings and regular progress meetings as required by the Project Manager.You will have the following qualifications & experience
Experience in project delivery and knowledge of Project Management principles (APM).
Previous experience working in a construction/nuclear or highly regulated environment would be advantageous.
Familiar with a strong health and safety culture and ability to set and uphold high standards of safety.
Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, including Construction Design Management and Health and Safety at Work Act.
Ability to prioritse and organise works to ensure adherence to the project schedule.
Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse team, bringing together multiple divisions to deliver projects on site.
Prior experience in procurement, tendering process etc is preferred but not essential.
Proficiency in budget monitoring, commercial awareness, and contractor. management. Knowledge of contracts and frameworks would be advantageous.It's great if you also have the following
Previous experience in nuclear, defence or civil engineering.
Active security clearance or the ability to gain.The setting for the role
Risks and Hazards are in line with working on a nuclear licenced site. These can include, nuclear fuel, radiation, chemicals and gasses, high voltage equipment, moving vehicles, flammable materials, high pressure circuits, steam, high noise and vibration levels. A full site induction will be provided and all safety requirements must be adhered to when entering the site.
