Currently seeking a Senior Optical Design Engineer this exciting role represents a great opportunity to join the team. We are looking for a key member of the senior team to lead a crucial area of the R&D team's work progressing optical amplifier designs for free space optical communication, with amplifiers designed for challenging applications both satellite and terrestrial-based.

Responsibilities:

* Be involved in the research, development and manufacturing phases of the Optical Engineering lifecycle.

* Lead the systems architecture and requirements.

* Optical design and development of simple and complex Electro-Optical Systems.

* Conduct lens and optical performance analysis/simulations.

* Ensure quality and consistency of detailed design, including numerical calculations, tolerance studies, etc.

* Support the integration and test of Electro-Optical Systems.

* Engagement with optical sub-contractor partners/suppliers.

* Involvement in reviews of optical designs in accordance with business and industry standards.

Requirements:

* In-depth knowledge of optical fibre lasers or fibre amplifiers or non-linear fibre-optics.

* BSc in and engineering discipline or physics.

* PhD is highly desirable

* Hands-on experience of the design and test of optical systems
