Job Type: Permanent, FullTime

Are you an ambitious, passionate, and enthusiastic finance professional who wants to be part of a transformation journey?

Camden is building somewhere everyone can thrive, by making our borough the best place to live, work, study and visit. We want to make it a better borough, making radical social change a reality, creating a place where everyone has a chance to succeed and where nobody gets left behind.

The Finance service in Camden has an ambitious vision to ensure consistent delivery of a high-quality, value-added service with excellent financial controls. We will do this through an exciting journey of continuous improvement, change, challenge, and innovation. To be successful we’ll need to constantly adapt to meet the needs of the organisation. The first phase will realign and increase the capacity of the Finance department, so Camden will be recruiting a number of finance roles over the coming months.

There are four Senior Finance Business Partner roles being recruited, supporting Dedicated Schools Grants (DSG), Commissioning, Property Manager and Capital. The roles report to either a Head of Finance or a Strategic Finance Lead and are integral to supporting the Finance Business Partner model. Their focus will be providing strategic insight across the Council working closely with the senior management teams and other stakeholders to aid decision making. Some of the key responsibilities will include;

  • Developing and maintaining strong, trusted relationships both across the Council and with external partners
  • Adding value by providing exceptional financial support and challenge to decision makers
  • Supporting the development and implementation of business proposals to support the delivery of the key aims of the Council
  • Monitoring development in national policy and legislation to assess and advise on the financial impacts, risks, and opportunities

You must be a qualified accountant with exception communications skills and the ability to influence and build trusted relationships with stakeholders. Proven experience of acting as a business partner within a large complex organisation is essential, as is the ability to explain complex financial information in a concise and easy to understand manner. Knowledge or experience within local government is highly desirable.

Camden offers hybrid working arrangements and excellent benefits including flexible working, an outstanding pension scheme and access to our incredible staff networks.

We want Camden Council to be a great place to work and to ensure that our communities are represented across our workforce. A vital part of this is ensuring we are a truly inclusive organisation that encourages diversity in all respects, including diversity of thinking. We particularly welcome applications from Black, Asian and those of Other Ethnicities, LGBT+, disabled and neurodiverse communities to make a real difference to our residents so that equalities and justice remains at the heart of everything we do.
