Based in a commercial office and reporting directly to the Business Manager you will be required to perform a variety of surveying functions within a small team.
The Role & Responsibilities:
* Review project plans, specifications, and drawings to determine the scope of work and materials required for brickwork projects.
* Collaborate with main contractors to gather necessary information for accurate cost estimation.
* Prepare detailed cost estimates and proposals for projects, including labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
* Analyse project specifications and requirements to identify potential risks and opportunities.
* Conduct site visits to assess project conditions and gather additional information for accurate cost estimation.
* Coordinate with client and other team members to ensure accurate and timely completion of cost estimates.
* Maintain a database of historical cost data to support future estimating efforts.
* Stay up-to-date with industry trends, construction methods, and material costs to ensure accurate cost estimation.
Skills:
* Strong analytical and mathematical skills to accurately calculate costs and quantities.
* Excellent attention to detail to ensure accuracy in cost estimation.
* Proficient in using estimating software and tools.
* Strong communication skills to collaborate with team members, clients and subcontractors.
* Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and drawings.
* Knowledge of construction materials, methods, and industry standards.
* Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
* A minimum of 3 years' experience as a quantity surveyor/estimator.
* Knowledge of brickwork is essential.
