Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a talented and experienced Design Engineer, responsible for designing new products and concepts in line with business requirements and ensuring they are ready for manufacture.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, verify, prepare, and maintain detailed technical design drawings, schematics, and specifications using CAD software (currently Creo) and Microsoft software packages.
Manage multiple projects according to the NPI (New Product Introduction) plan and resolve early-stage manufacturing issues.
Prepare Manufacturing & Process Instructions for new products and support the design and development of test rigs.
Work closely with design briefs to resolve design details or discrepancies, and coordinate drawing activities.
Ensure products meet design objectives and compliance standards, providing a formal handover to the Manufacturing Process Engineering group.Person Specification:

Essential Criteria:

Minimum BEng level qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related scientific subject.
Currently working towards Chartered/Incorporated Engineer status and membership of a Professional Engineering Institution.
Minimum 3 years of design engineering experience, preferably in the automotive or aerospace manufacturing industry.
Proficient in using CREO or similar 3D CAD and product lifecycle management software.
Experience in design for manufacture and assembly, with familiarity in NPI Gate review process/production readiness.Desirable Criteria:

Familiarity with AS9100, AS13100, AS9145 (APQP) standards.
Experience with material selection, plating finishes, and understanding mechanical properties of materials.
Knowledge of the design development process, including risk assessment and DFMEA, DFM/A.
Strong mechanical bias with some electrical familiarity.
Ability to clearly communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical colleagues.The Benefits:
