Salter Grange is currently recruiting a Design Manager to support a leading and award-winning General Contractor in the Data Centre sector.
Operating across the UK and Europe in the mission-critical sector and with turnover hitting £800m they are highly regarded and known for their strong Preconstruction Engineering, Project Management capabilities and smooth Project Delivery.
My client is open to the candidate's background if they can demonstrate cradle-to-grave experience on high-value construction projects in different sectors with reputable Main Contractors.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in developing the Design Delivery Schedule in collaboration with the client, Project Manager, design team, and consultants.
Develop a comprehensive scope-of-work and contract document deliverables list for each related discipline.
Negotiate scope-of-work, deliverables, and pricing with consulting firms.
Oversee the procurement of design services from a consultant design partner, from initial tender inquiry to appointment.
Support the Project Manager in tracking all internal and external design and cost issues.
Manage the distribution and production of project workload within the project team and design consultant team.
Collaborate on new design issues/changes and research projects with the team.
Ensure the accuracy and precision of completed designs.
Manage design document control and prioritize project design assignments.
Lead an experienced design team to ensure timely delivery of project milestones.
Monitor design deliverables closely to ensure project milestones are met and implement recovery strategies if necessary.
Participate in departmental strategic planning.
Provide technical assistance to internal and external customers.
Engage in planning, programming, and reporting activities.
Participate in design meetings, offering continual input to optimize design and minimize unnecessary work.
Liaise with clients, insurance companies, consultants, and architects.

Essential Criteria for the Role

Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical preferred or Architectural/Structural/Civil)
