About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a leading national shop fitting contractor based in Plymouth. This role is perfect for an ambitious individual looking to develop their career in the fast-paced retail and commercial fit-out sector. You will support the commercial team in delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget while gaining invaluable industry experience.

Key Responsibilities:

* Assisting in the preparation of cost estimates, valuations, and tenders

* Supporting the commercial team in cost management, procurement, and contract administration

* Conducting site visits to assess progress and report on cost implications

* Helping to prepare and review subcontractor and supplier payments

* Assisting in the preparation of monthly reports and financial forecasts

* Ensuring compliance with contractual terms and conditions

* Supporting with risk assessment and value engineering initiatives

Requirements:

* 1-2 years' experience in a construction environment (shop fitting experience desirable)

* Strong numerical and analytical skills

* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

* Excellent communication and negotiation skills

* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
