Job Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join our team within the special educational needs department. The successful candidate will support a young person with special educational needs, ensuring they have access to a tailored and inclusive education. This role requires patience, adaptability, and a genuine passion for making a positive difference in the lives of children with additional needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide individualised support to a student with identified SEN, following their Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP).
Assist the student in accessing the curriculum, adapting learning materials as needed under the guidance of the class teacher.
Foster a safe and supportive learning environment, promoting independence and self-confidence.
Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and other staff to implement tailored strategies and interventions.
Support the student during classroom activities, break times, and transitions between lessons.
Encourage positive behaviour in line with the school's behaviour policy and the student's needs.
Monitor and report on the student's progress, providing feedback to teaching staff and parents/carers.Person Specification:

Essential:

Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers.
Patience, empathy, and a proactive attitude to support learning and development.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.Desirable:

Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant certificate or equivalent.
Training in SEN-specific strategies (Autism, ADHD, or sensory processing).
Knowledge of Team Teach or similar behaviour management strategies.
Experience with assistive technologies or alternative communication systems, such as PECs or Makaton.Why Join Us?
