Role Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated English Teacher to join our thriving English department. The successful candidate will be passionate about literature and language, committed to high-quality teaching, and able to inspire a love for English in students across Key Stages 3 to 5.

Key Responsibilities:

* Plan and deliver engaging and challenging English lessons in line with the school's curriculum.

* Teach across a range of year groups, including GCSE and A-Level English Literature and Language.

* Foster a love of reading, writing, and critical thinking among students.

* Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing constructive feedback to support their development.

* Contribute to the wider life of the English department, including extracurricular activities such as creative writing clubs, debating, or school productions.

* Maintain high expectations for student behaviour and learning, ensuring a positive classroom environment.

* Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance the curriculum and share best teaching practices.

* Participate in parents' evenings, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities.

Person Specification:

Essential:

* A degree in English or a closely related subject.

* A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).

* Experience teaching English at secondary level, including GCSE and A-Level.

* A passion for English literature and language with the ability to inspire students.

* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

* A commitment to high academic standards and student achievement.

Desirable:

* Experience teaching in an independent school setting.

* Familiarity with the AQA or OCR exam board specifications for English.

* Involvement in extracurricular English activities or enrichment programmes.
