About the Role:

The Ocean Freight Operator plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient execution of ocean freight shipments. This position requires a strong understanding of ocean freight operations, documentation, and trade terms.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and manage ocean freight shipments from booking to delivery, ensuring timely and accurate execution.
• Prepare and process necessary documentation, including shipping instructions, bills of lading, customs declarations, and invoices.
• Liaise with shipping lines, customs brokers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth shipment flow.
• Monitor and track shipments, providing updates to customers and resolving any issues that may arise.
• Negotiate freight rates and contract terms with shipping lines.
• Handle customs clearance procedures, including documentation and payment.
• Provide excellent customer service, addressing customer inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
• Stay updated on industry regulations, tariffs, and trade agreements.
• Assist in the development and implementation of process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with other departments within the company to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
• Analyze and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to ocean freight operations.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in ocean freight operations.
• Strong understanding of ocean freight documentation and procedures.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of customs regulations and procedures is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A proactive and problem-solving approach.
