Main Duties:

Caseload Management: Manage a diverse caseload of adult male prison leavers and individuals on community orders within the Probation services, supporting them in implementing their action plans and navigating their recovery journeys.
Building Trust and Continuity: Establish trust and provide consistent support, ensuring seamless navigation through the recovery process, including signposting to appropriate services.
Comprehensive Assessments: Complete thorough assessments of clients' needs and create collaborative action plans tailored to their recovery goals.
Service Delivery: Deliver structured one-to-one sessions, group work, and virtual sessions, maintaining accurate records throughout the process.
Multi-Skilled Support: Provide a range of support and interventions across all levels of complexity, demonstrating flexibility and resilience to meet changing demands.
Enhanced Access to Treatment: Deliver services that enhance access to treatment, offering additional support and guidance for individuals whose substance use disorders co-occur with other mental health issues and complex needs.
Subject Matter Expertise: Some Recovery Navigators will have the opportunity to become subject matter experts (SMEs) in specific vulnerable groups (e.g., BAME) or needs (e.g., chemsex), providing specialized support to colleagues across the team.
Collaboration with Existing Services: Ensure access to and sustained engagement with statutory and existing provision, building motivation, offering practical assistance, and ongoing support to achieve controlled dependent behaviour or abstinence, with the aim to reduce re-offending.
Target Adherence: Meet the targets set by Forward and local commissioners, maintaining cooperative relationships with partner agencies and probation staff
Requirements of the Recovery Navigator:

Level 3 substance misuse-related qualification or equivalent experience in substance misuse services or a comparable role.
Knowledge and experience of the criminal justice sector.
Extensive experience in the substance misuse field or a related field.
Demonstrable experience managing high caseloads, conducting risk/comprehensive assessments, developing SMART action plans, and maintaining effective case records.
Experience delivering both one-to-one and group-work interventions using motivational techniques and trauma-informed approaches.
Experience working with treatment and/or healthcare services.
