At Adelante we are seeking a Business Development Manager to drive new business growth and expand our presence within the UK Local Government sector. We need an experienced, hands-on candidate who has a clear track record in public sector sales, with a strong network and understanding of public sector procurement processes.

Required skills and experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in public sector sales, with a strong network and understanding of public sector procurement processes.
  • Proven track record of winning and managing large contracts within the public sector, particularly with local councils.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic and consultative selling, with a focus on understanding client needs and delivering comprehensive solutions.
  • Expertise in pre-tender engagement and bid support, with strong knowledge of bid and tender management for government contracts.

Key Accountabilities

  • Identify and secure new business opportunities within UK local government, expanding market share and driving revenue growth.

  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities, focusing on new business as well as maximising contract renewal opportunities.

  • Contribute to sound commercial decision-making, ensuring competitive and well-aligned proposals are provided during quote preparation.

  • Leverage opportunities during annual contract renewals to negotiate long-term agreements, ensuring client retention and contract longevity.

  • Lead and manage the full tender and procurement process, ensuring compliance and securing local government contracts.

  • Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with senior decision-makers within local councils, positioning Adelante as the preferred partner.
