Data Centre Day Supervisor

Salary up to £35,000

Purpose of the Role
This pivotal role as Day Supervisor supports the Data Centre Manager, overseeing the day-to-day engineering operations and maintenance of data centre infrastructure. As a key member of the Day Engineering team, you will have line-management responsibility for all non-shift engineering and FM operatives, ensuring that both planned and reactive maintenance work is completed seamlessly and documented thoroughly.

Key Responsibilities
The Day Supervisor serves as the technical lead for the Day Engineer team, coordinating daily maintenance activities and advising the Data Centre Manager on PPM Planners, suppliers, and support teams. This role includes oversight of Pressure Systems and Confined Spaces, acting as the Qualifying Supervisor (QS) and liaison between the client services team and the engineering team. Ensuring that all client services work aligns with the client's scope of works, you will be responsible for maintaining the highest engineering standards among both in-house and 3rd-party staff, fostering an environment of training, coaching, and mentorship to enhance infrastructure reliability.

In addition, you'll oversee the following areas: setting team goals and development plans, performance management, auditing self-delivered work, and liaising with client services to coordinate requests. Attending planning meetings and coordinating certification compliance under NICEIC will also fall under your responsibilities. You'll manage relationships with non-critical subcontractors, act as a liaison for site-based activities, and ensure seamless communication across teams, including providing updates on planned and reactive works occurring during night and weekend shifts.

The role also involves inventory management for site stores and critical spares, assisting with procurement, monitoring supplier performance, and supporting the Data Centre Manager in reviewing annual PPM planners. You will work closely with shift managers to ensure that site logbooks are up-to-date and statutory compliance records are accurately maintained. With a focus on safety, you will uphold health and safety standards, report any compliance issues, and maintain a professional image of the company in interactions with clients, contractors, and visitors.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
Candidates should have experience as a QS, Pressure Systems AP, or HVAP, along with a sound understanding of Building Services in Critical Environments. Prior management experience in handling sub-contractors and supply chain partners is essential, as is a history of managing policies related to Health & Safety, Quality Assurance, and environmental standards, while maintaining compliance with current legislation.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated an ability to manage multiple tasks across a complex site, fostering positive client relations, and working effectively within established systems and processes. A valid Health & Safety qualification is desirable, along with adherence to Method Statements and Risk Assessments. Experience with or eligibility for BPSS and SC security clearance is preferred.

Person Specification
We are looking for a proactive leader who remains calm under pressure, makes decisions confidently, and drives team motivation. You should be committed to high standards, adaptable to change, and continuously seek improvement opportunities.
