Young Persons Team Leader
Salary - £30,000
Full time - Permanent
Location - Thornton Heath (Croydon)
Hours - 40 hours will be inclusive of shifts including some weekends

Caridon Young Living is a young person's 24 hour supported housing provider in London. Many of the young people living with us are looked after children under social care. The purpose of the role is to manage a service which has between 4 - 7 young people who reside there. As a Team Leader you will offer support and assistance to the staff and young people as directed by your line manager. You will be responsible for leading the service, key-working young people and ensuring the highest standards of service delivery. In keeping with the Company ethos, the Team Leader will support the operational management of the service on a day to day basis. You will also be required to partake in an on-call rota.

- Ensure young people are engaging in activities in line with their placement plan.
- Be accountable for effectively managing petty cash.
- Produce monthly petty cash returns to the Operations Manager.
- Lead a culture of continuous improvement and development with a strong focus on best practice
- Attend social care meetings prepared and with professionalism to ensure the company is promoted positively.
- Promote a learning organisation culture and commit to personal and workforce skills' development
- Engage colleagues to own and deliver on Caridon Young Living's vision and goals, setting a strong example for others to follow
- Acknowledge, celebrate and share success
- Complete monthly supervision with all support workers.
- Complete staff inductions and probationary periods in line with HR guidelines.
- Ensure you are able to meet targets set by your line manager
- Be able to write reports to a high standard within time scales set by your line manager.
- Be able to provide a nurturing environment for the young people which is consistent, fair and uplifting.
- Attend key partner meetings and be able to represent Caridon young Living by being prepared and show an understanding of the issues presenting.
- Manage incidents with the agreed time frame through following the incident policy.
- Manage services to prevent placement breakdowns.
- Meet KPI targets on your house performances as directed by your line manager.
- Keywork young people, including complying support plans and risk assessments.
Do You:
- Have a minimum Level 3 NVQ in Health and Social Care with young people or equivalent
- Be willing to work towards your NVQ Level 5 in Management within 8 months of starting in the post.
- Have a thorough understanding and knowledge of relevant legislation of the Care Act.
- Have experience in working within the relevant health and social care setting
- Minimum 5 years' experience working in children's residential setting.
- Understanding and knowledge of Safeguarding.
- Commitment to enhancing knowledge in current legislation around child protection and safeguarding.
- Detailed knowledge of outcomes‐based practice as referred to in Children's Home Quality regulations 2015
- Knowledge of Children's Rights e.g. advocacy and internal complaints procedure.
- The Children Act, Human rights Act, Care leaving guidance, Ofsted benchmarking
- Have experience working with vulnerable children, including Autism, Learning Disabilities, Mental Health Conditions and Challenging Behaviour
- Hold a full driving licence - you will be required to drive between services. (expenses can be reimbursed).

General Responsibilities
- Responding to the service needs. Including being on a on-call rota.
- Provide support to emergency services - including attending hospitals and police stations for the young people when needed.
- Complete spot checks on the service to ensure the staff are compliant in their shift duties.
- Receiving training appropriate to the role and maintaining an up to date training profile
- Responsibility for the accurate maintenance of daily logs, and key paperwork. Along with the case management system.
- Work 5 days a week but be will to cover weekend and evening shifts as and when needed.
- Responsibility for the health, safety and welfare of self and colleagues in accordance with the requirements of the organisational Health and Safety Policies
- Maintaining the upkeep of the house through general cleaning of communal areas.
- Provide support to the young people.
- Be a first aider in the service.
- Supervise and line manage staff, including completing supervisions and ensuring their training is up to date and relevant.
- Ensure the house is maintained to a high standard including cleaning and general upkeep.
Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care Management (working with young people) or equivalent.
Special Conditions
- The shift pattern 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday but may require overtime out side of this hours of evening and weekends as the service need requires.
- In accordance with the guidelines on Health and Safety, to accept responsibility for working within these guidelines and reporting any concerns to the Director. .
- This post requires the holder to have an Enhanced Disclosure & Baring Service check at all times Changes to personal circumstances which may affect you remaining in the role.
- The post holder will be given travel expenses for travel between services.
