Salary: £43,736 - £52,000 per annum

London Fire Brigade, one of our largest public sector organisations based in London are looking to recruit a Senior Risk Officer to join their team on a permanent basis. The role is full time, Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week with hybrid work available (2 days in office and 3 days’ work from home) the office is at the London Fire Brigade HQ, walking distance from London Bridge or Southwark station.

Salary range - £43,736 - £52,000 per annum (dependant on experience)

Day to Day of the role:

  • Support the establishment and promotion of a risk-aware culture within the organisation.
  • Review, maintain, and update risk management policies, guidance documents, and structures.
  • Provide advice and guidance on best practice risk management techniques to all staff.
  • Enhance the strategic risk management system to add value to service delivery and influence decision-making.
  • Lead the development of the risk management IT system, improving functionality and accessibility.
  • Undertake Business Partnering with departments to maintain the effectiveness of the risk management framework.
  • Drive engagement with Business Resilience teams to ensure a cohesive approach to risk management, assurance, and business continuity.
  • Deliver risk management awareness, education, and briefing sessions across the organisation.
  • Engage with Boards and Committees, providing information to support the work of the risk management team.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the political environment affecting the strategic risk management framework.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in risk management, preferably within a similar sector.
  • Strong understanding of strategic risk management frameworks and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with staff at all levels.
  • Ability to drive change and encourage a proactive approach to risk management.
  • Competency in IT systems (Microsoft suite as well as Microsoft Lists) relevant to risk management and data analysis.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Knowledge of the political landscape and its impact on strategic risk management.
