About the Role:

A dedicated SEMH school is looking for a Teaching Assistant to provide tailored support to students with complex emotional and behavioural needs. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people, helping them overcome challenges, and achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities:

* Support students with SEMH needs both individually and in small groups.

* Assist teachers in planning and delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.

* Help manage challenging behaviours using positive reinforcement and de-escalation techniques.

* Foster an environment of safety, trust, and encouragement to support emotional well-being.

* Work collaboratively with school staff to develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs).

* Build positive relationships with students.

* Uphold safeguarding and child protection standards at all times.

What We're Looking For:

* Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs or similar challenges.

* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

* Patience, empathy, and the ability to maintain calm under pressure.

* A proactive and flexible approach to supporting diverse needs.

* Understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.

Desirable Skills and Qualifications (but not essential):

* A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).

* Training in behaviour management or mental health first aid.

* Experience working in a specialist SEMH, therapeutic, or alternative provision setting.
