Barclay Meade are now seeking a Dealer / Business Development Manager to work with a client in the Materials Handling Industry
This role is responsible for driving new business development by building, maintaining, and expanding relationships with current and prospective dealer partners across the UK & Ireland.
The role focuses on achieving profitable growth through a combination of opportunity identification and relationship-building activities. The successful candidate will represent the full range of products and services, ensuring that partners are fully supported to drive sales and market penetration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, recruit, and on-board new dealers to expand market reach, establishing strong professional relationships with key contacts within assigned dealer accounts.
- Track and analyse dealer sales performance, offering insights and recommendations to boost productivity and revenue.
- Provide dealers with comprehensive training and ongoing support on all products, including features and specifications.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop promotional materials and sales tools to aid dealers in their selling efforts.
- Develop and execute effective sales strategies that align with the overall business goals.
- Coordinate the involvement of various internal teams, such as support, service, and management, to meet the performance goals and expectations of dealer partners.
- Regularly assess and address the evolving needs of dealers, ensuring their long-term success.
- Work closely with dealer sales teams to drive sales to end-users, including key accounts.
- Maintain clear, consistent communication with both internal teams and external partners, ensuring adherence to dealer agreements and promoting company policies and strategies.
- Lead formal monthly review meetings with each dealer to evaluate:
- Sales and performance of machines and spare parts
- Actual sales versus forecasts and targets
- Resolution of technical issues
- Support of marketing initiatives as needed
Required Skills & Experience:
- High-performing individual with an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Proven ability to build and sustain strong relationships with independent dealers.
- Successful track record in managing and growing sales networks.
- Strong sales and technical expertise in forklifts or related equipment.
- Deep understanding of the value segment within the forklift or similar industries.
- Extensive experience in the material handling industry across all business streams.
- Skilled in developing and executing strategies, plans, and budgets aligned with business objectives.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels.
- Experience with capital equipment and financing solutions preferred.
- Strong commercial acumen with a solid understanding of business drivers such as finance, residual value, and maintenance.
