We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Bookkeeping Coordinator/Controller/Lead to manage the financial records of our diverse portfolio of clients. In this role, you will oversee bookkeeping activities across multiple client accounts while managing and training on-site and outsourced bookkeepers. Your key responsibilities will include maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records, handling and reviewing VAT returns, management reporting, CIS reporting, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations for each client.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day bookkeeping activities for multiple clients, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Manage and train bookkeepers, ensuring adherence to company standards and each client’s specific requirements.
  • Develop and implement strategies for both outsourced and in-house bookkeeping teams to maintain high levels of accuracy and efficiency across client accounts.
  • Review VAT returns, management reports, accounts, invoices, CIS, and payroll, ensuring timely and accurate record-keeping.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly management reports for clients, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Liaise closely with clients to resolve queries raised by bookkeepers and provide clear answers to any client questions.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement strategies to enhance efficiency in bookkeeping operations.
  • Monitor and report on the performance of outsourced bookkeepers, offering feedback and support to ensure high standards for all clients.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or a related field, with a strong background in managing multiple client accounts.
  • Strong knowledge of bookkeeping principles, financial processes, and accounting standards.
  • Experience in managing or training outsourced or remote teams is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in bookkeeping software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, VT) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities, particularly in a client-focused environment.

  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with clients, in-house teams, and outsourced bookkeepers.
