This role enhances the sales, community engagement, operational, and financial performance of the centre. Oxford Innovation Space operates a network of innovation centres providing flexible workspace, including offices and workshops, and business support services across the UK. Our clients include start-ups, high-growth SMEs, investors, and public sector organisations.

The EpiCentre is a purpose-built innovation centre in South Cambridge, home to ambitious innovators, creatives, and businesses. Oxford Innovation Space operates a network of innovation centres providing flexible workspace and business support services across the UK. Our clients include start-ups, high-growth SMEs, investors, and public sector organisations.

The Assistant Centre Manager reports to the Centre Manager and is supported by Customer Experience Assistants. They work closely with the Centre Manager and the Innovation Director.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Operational:

  • Assist in setting, monitoring, and developing building presentation standards, including cleanliness, health and safety, and security.
  • Ensure, with support from 'Operations' compliance with Health and Safety at Work Act.
  • Maintain and deliver the Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedule.
  • Manage procurement and contractors.
  • Implement standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain Centre Asset register & Contract Database.
  • Oversee maintenance and manage assets, stock, and inventory.
  • Set up and maintain in-house IT systems.
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR and Money Laundering Regulations.
  • Maintain records for ISO9001:2015 & ISO14001.
  • Develop a culture of quality service and customer care.
  • Ensure competent staff are on duty in the Centre Manager’s absence.
  • Attend training courses and meetings.

Financial:

  • Support financial management, including invoicing and debt management.
  • Assist in budget planning and financial reporting.
  • Reconcile invoices for audit compliance.

Team Development:

  • Assist with team management and recruitment.
  • Coach the centre management team to ensure high customer service standards.

Sales and Marketing:

  • Promote available space and generate revenue.
  • Identify additional revenue opportunities.
  • Promote Oxford Innovation Space’s services.
  • Develop a community of entrepreneurs.
  • Maintain awareness of clients’ business performance.
  • Assist in event preparation and marketing initiatives.

Experience:

  • Experience in operational running of a similar asset.
  • Management skills to lead a team in a service environment.
  • Negotiation skills.
