Our client is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Cook to join their care home team and help make a difference through the power of good food. Working in a supportive environment alongside the Head Chef and Home Manager, the successful candidate will prepare and cook nutritious, well-balanced meals tailored to the individual needs of residents.

 

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about food and understands the importance of nutrition, hydration, and special diets—especially within a care setting. The role combines creativity and care, making every mealtime a meaningful part of each resident’s day.

 

What Our Client Is Looking For

  • Experience as a Cook or Chef, preferably within a care home or healthcare setting
  • Relevant catering qualification and a valid Food Hygiene Certificate
  • A good understanding of nutrition, hydration, special diets, and food textures
  • Knowledge of kitchen health and safety standards, including COSHH and cross-infection controls
  • A team player with a kind, flexible, and respectful approach to residents and colleagues
  • Strong organisational and time management skills

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals in line with residents’ individual dietary needs, preferences, and nutritional requirements
  • Ensure meals are varied, well-presented, and aligned with current food safety and dietary standards
  • Support in ordering stock and maintaining kitchen supplies, keeping within allocated budgets
  • Follow COSHH, infection control, and health and safety procedures at all times
  • Collaborate closely with the Head Chef and Home Manager to maintain a high-quality, person-centred dining experience
  • Ensure food is served at the correct temperature and texture, considering specific dietary modifications (e.g., soft or pureed meals)
  • Maintain a clean and organised kitchen in line with food hygiene regulations
