Position Summary

The Contracts Analyst will play a crucial role in the preparation, review, and management of contracts and agreements related to the trading of crude oil and other energy commodities. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments to ensure compliance and support business objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contract Management:

    • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts including purchase and sale agreements, transportation agreements, and storage agreements.
    • Ensure all contracts comply with company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements.
    • Maintain and update contract templates and standard terms and conditions.
  • Compliance and Risk Management:

    • Monitor compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
    • Identify and mitigate risks associated with contract terms and performance.
    • Collaborate with the risk management and legal teams to address any contractual disputes or issues.
  • Documentation and Record Keeping:

    • Maintain accurate and organized records of all contracts and related documents.
    • Ensure timely execution and storage of all contracts.
    • Provide support during internal and external audits.
  • Collaboration and Support:

    • Work closely with the trading, operations, finance, and legal teams to support contract execution and management.
    • Provide guidance and advice on contractual matters to internal stakeholders.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of contract management processes and systems.
  • Market Analysis and Research:

    • Conduct research on market conditions, legal developments, and industry best practices related to contract management.
    • Prepare reports and analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. A JD or advanced degree is preferred.
  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in contract management, preferably within the energy or commodities trading industry.
    • Strong understanding of contractual terms and conditions, legal principles, and industry regulations.
  • Skills:

    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • Proficiency in contract management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
