Our client, a distinguished player in the highway and transportation sector (HTP), is currently seeking a Senior Developing Highways Manager on a contract basis. This role is integral to facilitating economic growth on the highway network, ensuring best value, and maximising opportunities to enhance the highway infrastructure while supporting community needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Acting as the senior officer within the Developing Highways team and managing development sites through S38, S278, and S106 agreements.
Leading large-scale projects and developments from a highway perspective to support the council's economic growth strategy.
Managing commissioning contracts for a range of services within the Developing Highways team.
Generating and managing your own workload, leading on various proposals and projects, and providing advice to senior management.
Supporting the Planning and Development Services Manager in delivering a development management service that aligns with Shropshire's objectives as an enterprising council.
Responsibility for health and safety, training, and development in coordination with the Planning and Development Services Manager.
Leading and contributing to projects, building relationships with internal and external partners to achieve specified outcomes without direct authority over those involved.
Accountable for the performance and resource utilisation within a defined part of the service area, ensuring delivery of key outcomes for local people by building and maintaining an effective team.

Job Requirements:

Extensive experience in highway development control and management.
Sound understanding of S38, S278, and S106 agreements and their implications on highway development.
Strong project leadership skills with the ability to manage large-scale highway projects.
Proven ability to generate and manage workload independently, providing strategic advice to senior management.
Experience collaborating with diverse stakeholders to achieve project outcomes.
Excellent resource management skills to drive performance and deliver key results.
Strong communication skills to support the council's economic growth strategy effectively.
