Mission & Role- Responsible for routine preventative maintenance, electrical installations, and fault finding.
- Support the objectives of the electrical department and overall business goals.
Key AccountabilitiesTechnical Responsibilities
- Provide expertise on EC&I systems, ensuring plant safety and system availability.
- Collaborate with mechanical and operations teams for maintenance planning.
- Support and manage projects to ensure high quality, cost-effectiveness, and service.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation (BS7671 & BS6626).
- Develop and manage the CMMS system for maintenance and operation.
- Participate in a 24/7 call-out rota.
- Manage EC&I contract requirements and day-to-day contractors.
- Oversee plant monitoring and machine protection systems.
- Diagnose and rectify faults in EC&I systems.
- Conduct minor installation and phased replacement work.
- Maintain and update plant control systems.
- Plan and deliver complex outages.
- Procure materials and equipment within budget guidelines.
- Manage inventory of critical spares.
- Explore energy-saving opportunities to support net-zero goals.
Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Ensure personal and team safety.
- Report all accidents, near misses, and incidents.
- Maintain electrical workshop and equipment.
- Produce risk assessments and method statements.
- Shut down processes when risks to people, environment, or plant arise.
- Adjust plant parameters to maintain quality and performance.
Communication Responsibilities
- Internal communication with personnel across departments.
- External communication with customers, suppliers, and emergency services.
- Regular interaction with Millers, Engineering, and Shift teams.
Meetings & Committees
- Attend daily, departmental, H&S, and budgetary meetings.
- Participate in internal and external training sessions.
Key Contacts
- Millers, Works Manager, Mechanical & EC&I Engineers.
- Contractors, suppliers, emergency services.
- Wider company personnel, including directors and compliance managers.

Education & Qualifications- Qualified Electrician/Technician (JIB ECS & IET Gold Card or higher).
- HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering (preferred).
- Knowledge of PLCs, HV switchgear, electrical isolation, and permitting.
- MEWP & Forklift experience (advantageous).
- Strong understanding of plant processes, utilities, and safety regulations.
- Experience with electrical power distribution (110V-11kV).
- Expertise in control systems (PLCs, relays, industrial communication networks).
- Professional registration with IET (preferred).
