About the role:

An exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced Building Surveyor to join our business during a period of transformation and manage the refurbishment and planned maintenance schemes on a range of residential, office, medical and retail properties within the Estate.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare outline designs and cost plans for the planned maintenance cyclical programme to meet strategic objectives including for environmental and sustainability goals.

o Manage refurbishment and planned maintenance schemes including:

o the preparation of specification documents

o appointing contractors;

o contract administration;

o monitoring M&E installations;

o settling final accounts.

• Carry out surveys and defects diagnosis on a range of property types including listed buildings.

What you need:

• RICS qualified Building Surveyor with minimum two years’ post qualification experience.
• A proven track record in leading consultancy teams, contract administration and specification writing with a sound background in building construction.
• Experience of delivering high quality residential and office building refurbishment schemes.
• Experience of actively managing contractors to deliver building refurbishments to the agreed timescales and within budget.
• Knowledge of key fitout requirements to maximise rental incomes for both residential and commercial buildings.
• An understanding of sustainability accreditations including Fitwel, SKA, Net Zero Carbon, MEES, etc. and the challenges of achieving compliance in both commercial and residential buildings.
• Knowledge of refurbishment works to historic and listed buildings.
• Good knowledge of the Building Regulations and current Fire Safety legislation.
• A commercial approach with strong communication and negotiation skills.
• An enthusiastic team player who can assist in the running of a busy department, engaging with other departments as well as having the ability to work autonomously.
