Job Title: Housing Register Officer

Rate: £23 P/H (Umbrella)
Contract Length: 3 Months
Redbridge Council are currently on the lookout for an experienced Housing Register Officer to join their team on a contract basis.
Main Duties:
- Assess and manage housing register applications, determining eligibility, waiting times, and preferences while providing advice and support for vulnerable households.
- Allocate properties through choice-based lettings and direct matching, ensuring compliance with housing policies and meeting applicant's specific needs (e.g., medical, adaptable homes).
- Conduct property inspections, ensure health and safety compliance, and manage void properties to meet turnaround targets.
- Provide comprehensive housing advice, manage tenancy enforcement, and support applicants in securing temporary or permanent accommodation while adhering to relevant policies and procedures.
The Candidate:
- Strong knowledge of housing law, including the Housing Act 1996, Homelessness Reduction Act, and related housing policies, with the ability to assess and manage housing applications effectively.
- Experience in housing allocations, tenancy management, and property inspections, including ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and managing voids.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to advise vulnerable residents, work collaboratively with teams, and manage complex cases involving multiple agencies.
