Rate Of Pay: £11.50
Shift Patterns: Full time, 40 hours per week, Days
Information about the Role:
Working as an Activities Coordinator at Sturdee Community Hospital your duties will include the following:
· To lead and encourage patients to join in meaningful activities whilst maintaining their independence, choice, and dignity, to enable them to lead as full and active life as possible.
· To create a stimulating and varied programme of leisure activities and social events, inside and outside of the hospital, for patients to enjoy.
· To work with each new patient to understand their likes/dislikes, abilities and needs to put together an individual leisure based plan and evaluate regularly.
· To plan, organise and co-ordinate activities for active daily living for each patient individually and in groups that is considerate of individual risk assessments of patients
· To work closely with the Occupational Therapy team to ensure effective planning and resource management
· Plan and organise an activities programme that will maintain interest and progression over a period of time.
· Identify the needs of the collective group and individuals and tailor the activities to suit the
· Observe care planning needs for patients and complete written daily records as instructed and in line with the Company’s policies and procedures
· Contribute to MDT discussions on the well-being of patients
· Escort patients travelling to and from the location to activities
· Participate in the creation and review of risk assessments for levels of activity.
Necessary Experience / Qualifications to work as an Activities Coordinator:
The post holder will have
· 6-months experience as an Activities Coordinator or 1 year working as an experienced Senior Support Worker/ Healthcare Assistant.
· Some experience of working in a hospital with people with diagnosed mental health conditions.
· An awareness of the Mental Health Act
· Experience of severe and complex challenging behaviour
· A resilient nature and the ability to work alone as well as in a team of healthcare professionals.
· The ability to work on a shift/rota pattern.
· The right to the work in the UK
