Design Project Engineer (6-Month Contract)
Location: Rochdale
Rate: £38,000 - £48,000 (Pro Rata / DOE)

We're working with a leading manufacturer based in Rochdale who are seeking an experienced Design Engineer for a 6-month contract. This is a key role within their engineering team, supporting a range of new and existing projects through 3D design and process improvement initiatives.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in delivering detailed SolidWorks designs and helping to streamline production processes through close collaboration with internal teams and external partners.

Key Responsibilities:

Produce and manage detailed 3D CAD models and technical drawings using SolidWorks.

*

Support the development and introduction of new products as well as improvements to existing designs.

*

Work alongside the Senior Projects Engineer and Design & Commercial Engineer to achieve project objectives.

*

Liaise with Production, Quality, Engineering, and Purchasing teams to ensure smooth project delivery.

*

Support the creation of accurate BOMs and Routings for new and modified products.

*

Participate in process reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

*

Ensure all design documentation is clear, up to date, and well controlled.

*

Engage with the implementation and optimization of the company's ERP system as it relates to design data.

*

Prepare technical specifications and design reports for internal and customer review.

Key Requirements:

*

Proven experience in a Design Engineer role within a manufacturing environment.

*

Highly desirable experienece with Solar/Wind Renewable Projects

*

Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (Essential).

*

Familiarity with ERP systems and managing design data through structured processes.

*

Background in process improvement or continuous improvement (Lean, Kaizen, etc.).

*

Good understanding of ISO 9001:2015 or similar quality standards.

*

HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.

*

Excellent communication and documentation skills.
