Job Title: HGV Workshop Team Leader -50% on Tools - 50% Management (2 Technicians and 1 Apprentice)

Shift: Monday to Friday -8am -4.30pm

About your new company

A well-established commercial vehicle repair centre with depots across the UK, they have a diverse fleet of vans, trailers, excavators and 44 tonne tankers with over 5,000 vehicles in their fleet. You will be responsible for the effective running of the workshop, booking in assets and distributing work.

My client is an inspiring company to work for who invest heavily in their employees, ensuring a supportive and inclusive workforce. They have been well established for over 20 years, they are a secure company owned by 2 utilities and are now looking for a Workshop Team Leader to be based at their Bradford depot.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

• Primary day to day contact for the workshop for staff, drivers and other company Departments; ensure expectations are managed and any queries outside of the role are escalated to the relevant department.
• Appropriate maintenance undertaken with reference to industry job times, defects/recalls reviewed and rectified accordingly for each vehicle and recorded within the Key2 system
• Dynamic daily risk assessment undertaken to ensure a safe workshop environment
• Liaise with customer drivers to support the legal events booking process. Monitor Compliance Manager, chase any missed confirmed bookings; escalate to Fleet Management if asset is not presented, customer not contactable or asset not found
• Liaise and book in external suppliers. I,e, Cranex for LOLERS, HGV MOT's, Ford mobile etc.
• Ensure workshop safety is maintained and environmental aspects are compliant.
• Proactive communication with drivers/customers for vehicle event bookings, when vehicles are ready for collection or if delayed
• Maintenance elements, defects and recalls reviewed, ensuring completion before release
• Raise Job Numbers in Fleet System and allocate to fitter as required.
• Oversee asset decommissioning, including fuel card decommissioning, tracker removal, auction collections, completion of hand back documentation.
• Ensure externally provided paperwork is scanned to Fleet Management
• Processing of maintenance relief vehicles, NTFL pool vehicles, monitoring of assets in and out of the workshop (drivers) and recording appropriate information
• Appraisal of new assets being delivered to workshop before its release to the customer. Highlight any issues to the Contract Manager and oversee the handover to the customer.
• Act as Fire Marshal for the site
• Ensure all relevant Briefs are delivered to workshop staff
• Ensure that waste is segregated appropriately, disposed of correctly (transfer notes/producer returns) and is compliant with requirements
• Respond to queries from Fleet Management, Customers and Suppliers regarding maintenance issues
• All vehicles in workshop for maintenance are allocated on/off road status correctly
• Ensure site security control measures are in place
• Follow vehicle key control storage protocols - spares for fleet & short-term hire
• Ensure lone worker location checks are completed
• Ensure workshop fixed electrical inspections and PAT within specified dates
• Ensure fire safety/emergency checks undertaken at required intervals

People Management Responsibilities:
• Ensure staff have been adequately trained/familiarised on workshop equipment, processes and fleet assets
• Review CV's and partake in the interview and selection of candidates
• Ensure first stage return to work interviews following sickness in line with company policy
• Competency files completed & signed off as required
