As the new Laboratory Technician, you will report to the Quality Team Leader, where you will be a key member of the test and inspection department. You will complete testing on incoming raw materials, finished products and new samples to enable these meet the correct compliance standards.

Your daily work will focus on manufacturing projects that will help enhance product quality, plant safety and overall productivity. This hands-on role will include using hand spraying equipment, and chemicals for production purposes.

  • Data collection, analysis, and report writing.
  • Collecting manufacturing data will be key aspects of the role to support continuous improvement.
  • Covering sub-con quality inspection and labelling will also be a key element of the role.
  • Help organise the study of materials for the coating process and any sub-con materials.
  • Work closely with the process control engineer, on future trial experiments.
  • Evaluate test results and develop the next series of trials in order to improve the process.
  • Assist the process engineer to develop and implement statistical process control using the parameters gained from experiments.
  • Assist the process engineer in defect investigations and improvement opportunities on the process lines.
  • Work with the manufacturing team to improve the process, work layout and methods.
  • Assist the team to improve and create new procedures for the process as required.
  • Carry out laboratory tests and duties as requested by the process control engineer.
  • Maintain shared records of laboratory results.
  • Investigate other corrosion protection systems as required.
  • To be the equipment expert on Laboratory specific equipment with the capability to train others.
  • Support investigations into customer complaints and NCRs with 'defect mirroring' and other techniques.
  • Provide laboratory support on technical improvement projects.
  • Process and review daily/weekly production control data to highlight trends and issues.
  • Develop incoming raw material checks and processes and carry out the required checks within the agreed timeframes.

Qualifications and Skills:

To apply for the Laboratory Technician position based in Doncaster, South Yorkshire you will ideally have some experience of Laboratory Testing or Quality Inspection.

  • Experience or qualifications within a manufacturing or laboratory testing environment.
  • Knowledge of material inspection and report writing.
  • Logical thinker with good planning & organisational skills.

Location and Benefits:

This position will be working days, Monday to Friday, days based with a salary between £25,000 and £30,000.
