Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Transport Planner to join a logistics team based in Woolpit. This role is essential in ensuring the efficient planning and execution of load and route management for both our in-house fleet and 3PL transport partners. The ideal candidate will be skilled in coordinating transport for goods with challenging dimensions and weights, optimizing resources to meet operational goals and maintaining high standards of customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

- Plan and coordinate routes and loads for the company's fleet and 3PL transport services, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.

- Assess and manage awkwardly sized or weighted loads, selecting the most suitable vehicles and routes.

- Liaise closely with drivers, warehouse staff, and third-party logistics providers to ensure seamless transport operations.

- Monitor daily transport activities, adjusting plans in response to operational changes or delays.

- Ensure compliance with all transport and safety regulations, maintaining records for audit purposes.

- Provide accurate ETAs and transport updates to customers, addressing any service issues proactively.

- Analyze transport routes and costs regularly to identify efficiency improvements and cost-saving opportunities.

- Utilize transport planning software and tools effectively, staying updated on best practices in transport logistics.

Requirements:

- Proven experience in a transport planning role, ideally within the logistics, distribution, or haulage sectors.

- Strong understanding of transport logistics, including vehicle selection, route planning, and compliance.

- Ability to manage and optimize loads with challenging dimensions and weights.

- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with a focus on efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners.

- Proficiency in transport planning software and MS Office applications.
