Reports to: Group Marketing Manager

Location: Dorking, Surrey (minimum three days a week)

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000

Job Purpose:

As the Marketing Manager, you'll play a key role in developing and delivering the marketing strategy for a portfolio of leading trade exhibitions and publications. Working closely with the marketing executives, you will deliver outstanding campaigns and cultivate excellent relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Your goal is to maximize attendance, engagement, and deliver exceptional events. You will manage various marketing demands across several products (exhibitions/conferences/magazines) with a structured and logical approach, and your communication skills and attention to detail will be second-to-none.

Main Responsibilities:

* Develop and implement marketing strategies, positioning, and key messages for a portfolio of events.

* Create strategic audience development plans and ensure marketing communications accurately reflect event positioning and key messaging.

* Lead and develop team members, setting objectives, and managing performance.

* Manage budgets and provide regular reports on spend and optimization.

* Develop, negotiate, and manage key relationships and partnerships with industry and sector media.

* Oversee the execution of marketing, promotions, and communications campaigns, and report on their effectiveness and results.

* Report and analyse pre-registration data.

* Manage the creative/design process for marketing material, ensuring all communications are on-message.

* Collaborate with the sales team to create sales campaigns focused on both new client growth and increased client retention.

* Regularly review marketing plans, response rates/KPIs, attendee demographics, and industry best practices to ensure marketing efforts are effective and successful, making recommendations and adjustments as appropriate.

Key Duties:

* Content Creation: Draft compelling copy for promotional materials, website content, social media posts, and email campaigns. Proof-read and sign off all communications.

* Campaign Management: Plan, develop, execute, and track marketing initiatives across multiple platforms.

* Research and Analysis: Conduct market research, analyse data, and prepare reports to inform decision-making and strategy development.

* Leadership: Develop team members, coach and support, manage and improve performance.

* Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, operations, and design - building strong relationships and influencing upwards.

* Event Support: Lead on-site marketing activities during trade exhibitions, including signage placement, visitor experience, gathering testimonials, building client relationships, etc.

Key Skills Required:

* Strong team leadership skills with a coaching mindset.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

* Strong organizational and time management abilities, with great attention to detail.

* Proficiency in IT, including Microsoft Office, social media scheduling tools, website CMS systems, Email Service Providers/CRMs, etc.

* Excellent understanding of digital marketing principles and platforms, including Google Analytics.

* Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and derive actionable insights.

* Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.

* Ability to work effectively at pace on multiple projects.

* Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and deadlines.
