The Role

We are presently hiring for a Pre-sales Lead Engineer to take on the leadership of Freshwave's busy Pre-sales design workstream for indoor small cells from initial contact by the sales team with the client to satisfactory submission of a design ready for a commercial offer by the sales team. This role has interfaces with the sales teams and the IDSC design team.

The candidate will act as the main interface before the Sales team and is expected to attend client meetings at the early stages of an opportunity. The suitable candidate will therefore be expected to:

  • Attend client meetings and contributing to tenders and bid responses
  • Act professionally and in the best interests of the company at all times and maintain good client relations.
  • Have a good working knowledge of Indoor Small solutions, their capabilities and limitations
  • Provide estimated effort and resources required for particular tasks.
  • Regularly update the Head of Engineering or Director of Engineering on progress and raise issues and risks swiftly.
  • Prioritise workload according to sales requirements and pipeline
  • Keep up-to-date with vendor products to inform sales team of any new developments
  • Assist and support other Design portfolio teams as requested by the Head of Engineering and as may be necessary from time to time. This includes DAS, private network and Special Projects teams

Requirements

  • Have experience performing RF Modelling and designs of in-building cellular systems using design tools such as iBwave or RanPlan - for DAS or small cell systems
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft applications - including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Discuss and finalise requirements capture with the client
  • Translate design criteria and requirements into system dimensioning, link budget and traffic analysis.
  • Complete RAMS and abide by the company's health and safety policy.
  • Perform RF and Design Surveys for inbuilding systems, including Carrier Wave testing, post-integration testing, existing coverage testing
  • Experienced in processing survey data and producing/reviewing survey data plots and tables
  • Be experienced with survey and analysis tools such as TEMS investigation, TEMS Discovery or Nemo.
  • Review results, drawings and reports produced by their team members and by suppliers.
  • Ability to communicate technical details to a non-technical audience as well as strong verbal skills in relation to dealing with clients.
  • High degree of accuracy and organisation skills.
  • Ability to adhere to pre-agreed timescales and SLAs.
  • Ability to work on their own initiative as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to lead a team of design engineers and technicians.
  • Good time planning for themself and any design engineer(s) reporting to them.
  • Ability to manage suppliers, monitor progress and SLAs, conduct regular review and produce executive summary of their performance to the senior management. Also, monitoring suppliers' process of validating their own test equipment to ensure accuracy and quality of their data
