Job Overview:

Claire at Amber Mace is recruiting for an experienced Registered Nursing Home Manager to oversee the daily operations of a medium-sized elderly nursing home. The Nursing Home Manager will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of care, managing a team of healthcare professionals, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and policies. The role involves leadership, financial oversight, and creating an environment that promotes the well-being and dignity of the residents.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead, manage, and motivate a multidisciplinary team of care staff, nurses, and support personnel to ensure effective service delivery.
Oversee the recruitment, training, and development of all staff, ensuring appropriate skill levels to meet residents' needs.
Maintain a positive, supportive, and productive working environment to promote staff retention and morale.
Develop, implement, and review individual care plans for residents in line with best practices and regulatory guidelines.
Ensure that all residents receive personalized, high-quality care that meets or exceeds their individual needs, preferences, and rights.
Regularly assess the quality of care provided and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
Conduct regular care audits to monitor safety, infection control, and risk management practices.
Ensure that the nursing home adheres to all regulatory requirements, including health and safety, hygiene, and safeguarding policies.
Prepare for and participate in external audits, inspections, and assessments.
Ensure that care records are accurately maintained, including medical history, care plans, and medication logs.
Oversee the budget and financial management of the nursing home, ensuring that resources are used efficiently and effectively.
Monitor and control staffing levels, operational costs, and purchasing requirements.
Implement effective systems for resource management, including equipment maintenance and supplies.
Foster positive relationships with residents' families and keep them informed of their loved one's care and well-being.
Represent the nursing home within the local community and build partnerships with external organizations, such as healthcare providers and local authorities.
Ensure staff are regularly trained on best practices, policies, and changes in healthcare regulations.
Provide mentorship and career development opportunities to encourage staff growth and professional development.

Qualifications & Skills:

Essential:

Registered Nurse with current NMC Pin
Significant experience in elderly care, with previous experience as a Nursing Home Manager or in a senior management role within a care setting.
In-depth knowledge of care planning, regulatory standards, and quality assurance in nursing homes.
Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to lead by example.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with residents, families, and staff.
Financial management skills, including budget management and cost control.
A compassionate and empathetic nature with a focus on enhancing the lives of elderly residents.

Desirable:

A post-graduate qualification in management or leadership (e.g., NVQ Level 5 in Leadership for Health and Social Care).
Knowledge of dementia care or specialized care needs.
Experience in staff training and development.
