About the Sizewell C Project
EDF Energy is leading the charge toward a low-carbon energy future in the UK, with Sizewell C (SZC) at the forefront. Set to begin construction at the end of 2023, SZC is a major new nuclear station that will play a key role in reducing carbon emissions and shaping the nation's energy policy.
The SZC Project Team is a diverse, collaborative group focused on engaging stakeholders, securing development consent, and preparing for construction. Central to this effort is the Quality function within the Project Delivery Organisation (PDO), ensuring compliance with the Integrated Management System (IMS) and regulatory Licence Conditions. This project will have a lasting impact on the UK's energy landscape and climate goals.
Job Overview
The scope of the Enabling Works and Earthwork is the design, planning, procurement and execution of some of the early SZC civils scope including - SSSI Crossing, ground improvements, dewatering, diaphragm walls, sea defence, marine bulk import facility (MBIF), beach landing facility (BLF), construction drainage outfall and bulk Earthworks.
Principal Accountabilities, Activities and Decisions
Health Safety & Environmental
- Production of Task Briefing Sheets and Method Statements.
- Contribution to production of Permit to Dig, including briefing to the workforce.
- Carries out associated briefings.
- Carries out Safety Inspections inline with role requirements as a minimum.
- Hazard Identification and contribution to development of SSoW.
Engineering Control
- Providing accurate Setting out and aswell as establishing primary control when needed.
- The provision of sketches detailing the setting out information installed.
- Maintain survey equipment including registers of equipment and testing regimes.
- Ability to read and determine information from drawings, schedules and specification.
Quality
- Production of as - built drawings & records for every element of the works involved in.
- Completion of Quality Check Sheets and production of information for Handover Documentation.
- Maintaining accurate records - Daily Diary, photographs, records of site discussions.
Productivity
- Measures actual materials used and reconciles with theoretical measure.
- Works to Weekly Programme - drafted by others - and marks up progress achieved weekly.
- Contributes to collection of data for Key Performance Indicators, including reasons for difference.
- Highlights issues that have been affecting safe production onsite and providing solutions to workforce and reporting line manager.
Commercial
- Production of accurate daily diary of resources, including labour, plant, materials, subcontractors and outputs.
- Produces weekly measure. Take offs and schedules materials accurately.
- Understands what is classified as additional work and understands how to record this.
- Familiar with actual resourcing levels versus budget and reporting of reasons for difference.
Knowledge & Skills
- Able to clearly communicate the requirements of a safe system of work to ensure that these are followed accurately.
- Ability to work across conflicting interest groups to develop solutions to complex operational and commercial problems.
- Knowledge of Project Management methodology.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Willing to work away from home.
- HNC/HND/Degree in relevant discipline and/or relevant Site Experience with the Utilities / Construction Industry
