Educated Appointments are delighted to be supporting a Norwich based provider of alternative vocational education for young people aged 12-19, to hire a SEND and EHCP Coordinator.
Our client were established in 1965, originally as an accommodation project for the young homeless. In 2004 started to consider how preventative work for the less able could act as a means of providing opportunities that had passed them by. We opened our vocational learning hub in 2012, providing an alternative learning environment for young people with few or no qualifications. We support those who have experienced problems in life and the traditional education system.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with parents/carers, educational professionals, health practitioners, and social care professionals to gather information about a child's special educational needs or disabilities (SEND).
* Conduct assessments and reviews to determine the child's needs and requirements.
* Coordinate and facilitate multi-disciplinary meetings to develop Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
* Ensure that EHCPs are person-centred, comprehensive, and meet legal requirements.
* Act as the central point of contact for parents/carers, professionals, and agencies involved in the EHCP process.
* Coordinate assessments, reviews, and meetings to ensure timely and accurate information exchange.
* Maintain accurate records and documentation related to the EHCP process.
* Liaise with educational professionals, such as tutors, (SENCOs), and support staff, to implement the provisions outlined in EHCPs.
* Collaborate with health practitioners, therapists, and social care professionals to coordinate and monitor the delivery of health and social care services as specified in EHCPs.
* Provide guidance and support to professionals involved in implementing EHCP provisions.
* Regularly review and monitor the child's progress, ensuring that EHCP provisions are effectively implemented.
* Collaborate with professionals and parents/carers to identify any necessary adjustments or updates to EHCPs.
* Participate in annual reviews and contribute to the evaluation of the child's progress and the effectiveness of EHCP provisions.
* Provide reports and updates to Local Authorities and other relevant bodies as required.
* Supporting students' transition into college and to support progression opportunities in line with student aspirations
* Recruitment - Request all relevant information for student, create Mess form, plan/conduct interview with potential students. Schedule taster days for potential students and evaluate student at the end of each taster day, report back to parents/professionals.
* To create support plans with tutors for all EHCP students.
Personal Specification
* Familiarity with the EHCP assessment and planning process, including the stages, timelines, and statutory requirements.
* Ability to assess and evaluate the needs of children and young people with SEND, using appropriate assessment methods and tools.
* Proficiency in analysing assessment data and making informed decisions about the provision of support and interventions.
* Knowledge of different types of special educational needs and disabilities and their impact on learning and development.
* Ability to build positive relationships, facilitate meetings, and maintain open lines of communication.
* Strong organisational skills to manage multiple EHCP cases, coordinate assessments, reviews, and meetings, and maintain accurate records and documentation.
* Collaboration skills to work effectively with educational professionals, such as teachers, Special Educational Needs Coordinators (SENCOs), and support staff.
* Ability to liaise with health practitioners, therapists, and social care professionals to coordinate integrated support services.
* Knowledge of available support services and interventions to provide appropriate recommendations and guidance
