Solution 47 has a very exciting new position for a CAD Design/ Sales Support Engineer for our expanding client in Haverhill.

Working Monday to Friday 9-5pm, with a superb office environment and a friendly welcoming team, you are guaranteed to be joining one of the most exciting, forward thinking companies around.

Your integral position will be producing and developing 3D CAD models, fully dimensioned production drawings and the CAM programs for the machine centres. You will also be required to create route cards and bills of materials for the shop floor and purchasing department and keep drawing records and libraries up to date.

* Providing technical support to customers, the sales team, project management and shop floor to ensure that customer expectations are met and to help the sales team retain and generate new business. This will include producing rendered visuals and approval drawings to assist in winning orders, some estimating and customer/site visits.

Main Duties / Requirements / Outputs:

Sales & Project Management support - various (e.g. estimating / order processing / approval drawings / 3D renders / site visits and surveys / etc).

Liaison with customers, internal sales and production teams and suppliers on specific job requirements such as technical queries, prototype design and drawing approval.

Manage and work with the CAD/CAM team creating 3D models, approval and production drawings and Laser/Punch/Press CAM programs in a timely manner to meet the requirements of the production schedule and client.

Preparation of customer job folders including drawings, route cards, bill of materials, CAM programs, check lists and identification labels (and amendments to any of these documents as required). Ensure job instructions are clear, concise, accurate and sufficient to eliminate delays and quality issues and include target times for each operation. Where laser operation times, material utilisation or material cost differ to those quoted by 20% or more, make sure the sales team are made aware.

Provide proactive design and value engineering input and determine the most appropriate design and manufacturing methods requesting input from other team members as appropriate (e.g. complex, new, unusual jobs).

Ensure that procedures and improvement opportunities are documented and followed (e.g. drawing office management, computerised production control system, drawing improvements, etc).

Follow customer jobs through from order to delivery, including involvement on the shop floor and liaison with production control where necessary.

Ensure that CAD and CAM programs meet the appropriate quality standards, are to the latest issue and maximise sheet material utilisation and productivity.

Problem solving and being constructive: Awareness of sales, engineering related shop floor / production issues. Proactive approach to contribute ideas, identify solutions to problems, and implement changes with a can-do attitude.

Keep up to date with the latest CAD, CAM and Production Control software as released by the business.

Develop Sales, Project Management and CAD/CAM skills through internal and external training.

Help your team maximise the efficiency of the Engineering (CAD/CAM) department.

Can work extra hours as the job demands, which could be up to 45 hours per week (overtime is paid at time and a half beyond half hour each day), including site visits & surveys.

Attend regular 121 meetings with your Line Manager, discuss any issues and resolve those issues quickly. Make sure that agreed actions are delivered.

Know the demands on you and your team and manage your workload in accordance with agreed priorities & deadlines.

Person Specification, including Knowledge, Skills & Experience required:

* Previous sales and project management experience to evidence strong customer relationships, encouraging people to work with or buy from you and giving customers confidence that you will resolve unexpected situations quickly.

* Ideally at least three years' experience in industry of 3D CAD modelling software, including 2D, 3D modelling and 2D drafting.

* Ideally previous experience of CAM programming.

* Experience of dealing directly with customers.

* Knowledge and experience of generating route cards and bills of material.

* It would be beneficial to have knowledge & experience of general sheet metal / fabrication.

* Your driving licence should have no more than three points and you are willing to travel anywhere in the UK and/or the occasional overnight stay, if required.

* Knowledge of estimating/quoting would be an advantage.

* Excellent time management, effective organiser and planner.

* Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

* Self-motivated and showing initiative.

* Able to work under pressure and with the minimum of supervision.

* Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office - Word, Excel and Outlook.

* Highly professional attitude and work ethic.
