Are you a strategic leader with a passion for driving online growth and enhancing the digital customer experience? Our client are seeking a dynamic Head of Digital & eCommerce to spearhead their digital and e-commerce strategy, taking their online presence to the next level. In this pivotal role, you will work cross-functionally, oversee digital marketing initiatives and ensure our e-commerce platform is robust and user-friendly. This is a hybrid role based in North West London (2 days).

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the ecommerce team and foster cross functional collaboration across digital marketing, web development, product management, operations, and logistics.
  • Ecommerce strategy development and stakeholder buy-in - including annual budget planning, development of product range, digital roadmap, and quarterly strategic reviews.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of each website, reflecting the aims and strategies of the business and customer sales strategy.
  • Ensure the ecommerce platform is robust, scalable, and user-friendly.
  • Lead and manage all paid digital marketing strategies, including social media, PPC, programmatic, and influencer campaigns, to drive brand growth and achieve business objectives.
  • Working with third party agencies to ensure they have relevant access and information to deliver and implementing their recommendations in a timely manner.
  • Seek to continually improve user experience across desktop and mobile to help improve conversion rates and customer retention.
  • Monitor and analyse website performance, conversion rates, and customer behaviour to identify areas for improvement.
  • Identify and develop opportunities for sales growth including range development, bestsellers and category performance.
  • Oversee new product uploads, category builds, product detail maintenance, and promotional activities.
  • Oversee UAT site testing for development projects and regular site walks to ensure accuracy, quality UX and optimised sites.
  • Oversee the implementation of new technologies, such as AI and personalization tools, to enhance the online shopping experience.
  • Work closely with IT and external vendors to manage website development, maintenance, and integrations.
  • Reporting on ecommerce trade performance including KPIs, covering the full trading team/across all channels providing data-driven insight, and conducting deep dives were needed to better understand shopping behaviours and trends.
  • Create, plan and execute online promotions, reviewing performance and managing margin expectations, working closely with purchasing and marketing teams.
  • Work in close partnership with the ecommerce sales teams and branch managers, responding to their feedback and keeping them informed of forthcoming changes.

To apply for this role, you will need:

  • 5+ years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in creating comprehensive marketing plans that align with business objectives.
  • Knowledge of SEO, PPC, paid and affiliate marketing to drive online traffic and sales.
  • Experience with Magento 2.4 websites, Klayvio, Google Merchant Centre would be ideal along with experience of API integration between multiple ERP systems (SAP, Counteract, Merlin) and Magento.
  • Experience of SQL databases & query writing.
  • Experience of managing technical staff and delivering on time and within budget.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Stakeholder management skills.
  • Knowledge of the timber and building materials industry would be advantageous, preferably merchanting or distribution of building or insulation materials.
