South Gloucestershire– Accountant  Location - BS375AF  On going contract – 37 hours – £21.98ph  What you will be doing?  

• Support the Finance Business Partners (Children’s and Resource and Business Change) in the preparation of revenue and capital budgets and the preparation of budget monitoring information.
• Provide financial advice and support to budget holders, including, advice about capital and revenue resources to support the preparation of bids for funding from external bodies; and to other customers (councillors, departments, managers) within the company
• Lead on the production of statutory government returns relevant to the subject area being supported.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations and legislation relating to specific service areas under your lead.
• Prepare and contribute towards formal reports to Cabinet and Committees and act as the principal point of contact for financial support, advice and guidance on the specific service area.
• Supervise, on a day-to-day basis, the work of Finance Officers and have an oversight of the work of the Finance Assistants

  What we need from you  

• It is essential that you hold a recognised CCAB qualification (preferably CIPFA) and have local authority experience
• We require you that have experience of undertaking analysis and appropriately communicating the results to a selected audience.
• You must be able to analyse complex data and provide solutions and recommendations to achieve appropriate outcomes and have the ability to communicate this effectively at all levels.
• It is essential that you hold knowledge of current local government finance system and forthcoming changes.
• To be successful in the role you will require excellent time management skills to prioritise and set appropriate deadlines.
• You must be able to supervise a small team to effectively deliver a quality and costs effective financial service and have the authority and credibility to build relationships and engage successfully with customers and teams.
• Ideally you would need Knowledge of Dynamics D365 & CIVICA Financials
