Reed Accountancy is seeking an Accounts Associate to join the Business Services team of a Top 30 accounting firm. The firm is seeking an accountant who is able to provide exceptional accounting services to a diverse range of corporate and charity organisations. This role is ideal for a personable and conscientious individual with a strong background in practice and a passion for delivering quality service.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Independently carry out all accounting work for a variety of corporate and charity organisations, ensuring compliance with statutory procedures.
  • Prepare management accounts and statutory financial reports, including consolidated accounts, from both manual and computerised records.
  • Prepare and review VAT Returns, with an understanding of partial exemption rules.
  • Delegate, supervise, and review the work of junior team members, providing constructive feedback and support.
  • Offer general accounting services and assistance to clients, including preparing working papers for accounts.
  • Recommend improvements to clients’ accounting systems and controls and provide assistance as needed.
  • Take ownership of assignments, ensuring completion and resolving issues proactively.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, developing and maintaining strong relationships.
  • Manage costs effectively and report any budget concerns to the Manager/Partner promptly.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Ideally AAT qualified or ACCA part qualified.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience within practice.
  • Experience in preparing statutory and management accounts.
  • Knowledge of VAT registrations and preparation of VAT returns.
  • Excellent communication skills and client-facing experience.
  • Understanding of UK GAAP, specifically FRS102 and FRS105.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and Xero.
  • Experience with Cloud-based accounting software implementation is ideal.
  • MS Office skills, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of Sage, advanced Excel skills.
