Contract: 12-month contract - 37 hours a week
Salary: £16.10 per hour (equivalent to £30,994 per annum)

About the Role:
Our prestigious public sector client based in Wales are seeking a dedicated and skilled Hydrometry and Telemetry Officer to join the team on a 12-month contract. This field-based role involves the installation of telemetered instruments, supporting their Hydrometry and Telemetry (H&T) services. You will play a crucial part in maintaining the quality of hydrometric data, ensuring the hydrometric network's operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Securely acquire and transfer hydrometric data in a timely and accurate manner.
Prioritise health and safety for yourself, the team, and the public while supporting Hydrometry & Telemetry network management.
Calibrate monitoring equipment, measure channel flow, maintain sites, install monitoring equipment, and input data into the hydrometric archive (WISKI).
Follow the team's work plan to meet objectives and Service Level Agreements, with flexibility for operational changes.
Assist in fault finding and repair of telemetry outstation equipment to minimise disruption to Flood Warning Service or Water Management sites.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers, contributing to environmental goals.
Support annual work plans, standards, and practices, collaborating closely with team members.
Assist with the onsite installation of new small-scale hydrometric sites, ensuring compliance with CDM regulations and customer requirements.
Pursue personal development through effective use of the personal development plan.
Participate in incident response activities as required.Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:

Educated to degree level or equivalent in a scientific or engineering subject, with ideally some relevant experience.
Strong communicator with effective interpersonal skills and a team-oriented approach.
Awareness and understanding of health and safety regulations relevant to the role.
Understanding of Hydrometry and Telemetry systems and their role in the organisations Water Management and Flood Risk strategies.
Ability to prioritise and adapt workload to team needs, working both independently and collaboratively.
Regular travel to and from sites within a defined area. Full UK driving license required.
Basic knowledge of British, European, and International Standards related to Hydrometry.
Awareness of Welsh culture and a positive attitude towards linguistic and cultural diversity
